Nick Godfrey

Nick is 16 years old and he has been living permanently in Cape St.Francis for the past six years. His dad, Edward and his brother, Benjamin, are also keen surfers and got him onto a board when he was 11 years old. Nick also has 2 sisters who live in Cape Town, Bianca and Josie.
Nick started competitive surfing in the under 12 division and ended up coming 4th in the Junior SA Champs in his first year. He hasn't looked back since.
Last year he won the coveted Billabong Junior Series Under 16 division, together with coming first in the under 20's divison for the Quiksilver King of the Groms held in Cape Town. He also came in 2nd in the Oakley Pro Junior held in Durban last month.
Nick also featured in the movie "Fifteen Below" filmed in the Maldives, in 2005. This year he has traveled to Hawaii, Portugal, France, Australia and Indonesia.
His goal is to compete in the Pro Junior events under 20 division for four years and then to qualify on the WQS.

I started surfing at the age of 9 when my dad got me my first surfboard. My brother also pushed me and got me amped to go surfing with him a lot. My long time goals for now are to get on the WQS and hopefully make the WCT. My dream is to become world champ. |

Mossel Bay's hidden talent. There is no stopping this kid, becoming noticed in the surf media over the next couple of years.
Indie's surfing is fast, powerful and fluid, with a highly mature style for his age. Hard rail, wrap around gouges are his signature turn that have won him numerous Blowing Up Awards, over the last 12 months.
This kid is going places and his surfing ability is a true testament to the level and maturity of surfing coming out of the Juniors in SA at the moment.

My approach to surfing has always bean to go big and critical or go home and moan. I am always the underground surfer everybody wants to beat, but it does not always end like that. I have knocked out some big names in the Billabong Junior series.
